Rosebowl Tournament

2018 — Roseville Area High School, MN/US

2018 Annual Rosebowl Debate Tournament

You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head.

FORMAT There will be 5 rounds for LD, JV and Varsity.  Friday and Saturday will have a mini-2 and 3 round tournament for Novice and Rookie Policy.  Policy prep time limit will be 8 minutes plus “flashing.” Judge RFDs will be limited to 10 minutes. Schools with Varsity Policy entries receive 2 strikes (please have them ready by Friday morning).

AWARDS:   All finalists will receive awards. We hope to hold it at 4 pm.  Top 3 in all categories get the coveted bowling pin. Finalists will get ribbons.  All names will be slaughtered unless phonetic pronunciations are provided. We will also be presenting awards for best costumes for Saturday and The Brian Plunkett award for Creative Debate.

CONCESSIONS:   Reasonably-priced concessions will be available in the cafeteria for purchase throughout the tournament.  Our Roseville parents will be hosting all judges and coaches in the Faculty Dining Room throughout the day.  This is located in the far corner of the cafeteria.

POSTINGSOutside the Judge’s lounge, the hallway by the cafeteria and in the cafeteria on the pop machines.

Costumes: We will be judging costumes throughout the day on Saturday.

Locations: A wing is to the left of the admin offices.  B wing is straight out from the cafeteria.  C wing is the hallway connecting A and B on both sides forming a U.  D wing is the first hallway off of the cafeteria. Numbering is unusual for C wing C101-C106 is down the long hallway by the admin offices and then continues at the other end of the building.  We pride ourselves in having the most complex and confusing building in the debate world.

Tab Room: Outside of the Media Center in Upper C.  Come here and calmly bring your concerns to the table. Judges will pick up ballots here and are asked to hang out a few minutes after ballots disappear to see if there is need for extra judges if you have an off round.

Questions: Find someone with a walky-talky.  It’s a good general rule for life.
